Galaxy Mk2 on an 03 plate, 2.3 petrol, Automatic.

The other day started the car, turned ignition and for the briefest moment, nothing, then the car started.

It was very brief delay, I thought I might have imagined it.

Today in the supermarket car park, the same thing but this time, definitely nothing, no engine start.

I thought for a moment the shift lever was not in park but it was, I removed the ignition key, made sure shift lever was firmly in park, turned ignition and no problems, car started.

Could it be battery in remote fob needs replacing or is there something else going on?

Next, rear window washer jet has stopped working, I can here the motor, no fluid reaching rear jet, how do I resolve and get to that problem?

Hi

I Don't know about the starting problem, someone else will hopefully be able to help.As for the rear washer jet not working I'd be very carefull about using it if you don't know where the waters going.I had the same problem last year and found one of the joints in the washer pipe had popped open wetting the passager carpet. There's some electrical gubbins under the seat that you don't want to get wet.The washer pipe runs under the passager side carpet(lift up the door trim and you'll see a joint),then another joint is above the nearside rear post(check again in boot for wet carpet) then theres a joint where the pipe attaches to the rear washer motor in the boot lid. These joints are crap plastic things and i've had 2 pop open now. They do snap shut again but if you've checked the nozzles are'nt blocked and these's plenty of water in the reservoir maybe worth a look.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

Reasonably sure it's not the relay, car is starting just fine, susspect it might be selector inhibitor switch.

Any pictures on this site as to how to get to the above switch?

Also any pictures as to how to lift pansenger door carpet trim and how to strengthen any washer pipes?

The inhibitor switch is easily accessible from inside the car, just remove the selector cover and trim panel and you are there, from memory i think the adjusting screw is a small grubscrew on the top of the switch in a recess, small quarter turn adjustments till it will start in park and neutral only.

easy 10 minute job with no parts to buy.
